Accord Party alleges capital flight The governorship candidate of the Accord Party in Osun State, Mr. Niyi Owolade, has alleged that there had been capital flight from the state to Lagos, owing to the number of Lagos based politicians serving in the administration of Governor Rauf Aregbesola. He said he would stop the “capital flight to Lagos State if he wins the election scheduled to hold on August 9.” Owolade made this promise while addressing a news conference in company with his running mate, Alhaji Ganiyu Opawuyi and the party’s chairman, Chief Dokun Babarinde, in Osogbo, on Friday. The candidate blamed the low economic activities in the state on capital flight which he accused the present administration of encouraging. He said, “I believe the present capital flight to Lagos must stop to enable the good people of Osun enjoy the dividends of democracy. “We have been shortchanged by the present administration. A situation where over 98 per cent of all major contracts are awarded to non- indigenes and where over 75 per cent of appointments in the cabinet are made from outside the state is unacceptable. This will be reversed if I am given the mandate by the people.” Copyright PUNCH.
