According To The Polls, Romney Lost The 2012 Foreign Policy Debate, But His Predictions Were Accurate - American Needs Leadership And The Islamic State Must Be Defeated. A major theme of the 2008 Obama campaign was pulling out of Iraq and ending the war on terrorism. His administration would not even use that term. We have since learned that pulling out does not end conflicts or threats to America. In 2011, Obama claimed the tide of war is receding, but it was metastasizing. In running for re-election Obama pretended the terrorists were on the run, and many Americans believed him. Romney clearly won the first debate on economic issues, but not the final encounter on foreign policy. Obama laughed when Romney claimed Russia was a threat, and said The Cold Wars been over for 20 years. It seems you want the foreign policy of the 1980s. Obama also said Just a few weeks ago you indicated we should still have troops in Iraq. Two years later many of Romneys other predictions have come true. Now the terrorist resurgence has blown up in Obamas face. He does not have a strategy or will to deal with the Islamic State, and his foreign policy is to watch and do as little as possible. America needs leadership, hope and change.
