According to Auburn’s athletics department, ESPN has picked up the rights to air the Tigers’ showdown with Georgia next weekend in its 7:15 p.m. ET time slot...The news involving the Auburn-Georgia matchup also hints that next week’s epic showdown between No. 1 Mississippi State and No. 3 Alabama (according to Sunday’s Coaches’ Poll) will air as the CBS SEC Game of the Week in the 3:30 p.m. ET slot. CBS has the right to choose any SEC game as its Game of the Week each week, so when Auburn announced its game would be televised on ESPN it also indicated CBS had not chosen the game as its featured contest of Week 12. The Mississippi State-Alabama showdown is the only other game on next week’s SEC slate featuring two ranked teams, and it appears likely CBS will broadcast the clash between two top 5 teams with major playoff implications. However, ESPN will still play a role in next week’s game between the Bulldogs and the Tide. College GameDay announced early Sunday it will broadcast next week’s show from Alabama’s campus in Tuscaloosa, marking the fifth time the SEC has hosted the popular pregame show in 2014. Alabama will host for the first time this season and the ninth time in the show’s history.
