The black buds on the olive green stems are quite a unique feature amongst our native/naturalised trees, so you should have no bother in identifying it. I posted pictures of the bark not long ago, taken of mature and younger specimens. Notice also the upwards swooping twigs. This feature can help you spot ash from quite a distance.
