According to Ser Sharland: Good Afternoon Perth Glory Fans. Please find below the Minutes of the FCC Meeting held 8 Jan 15. Minutes of the Fans Consultative Meeting held at Perth Glory Offices on Thursday 8 January 15 at 6.30pm The meeting was opened at 6.30pm. Present: Jason Brewer – Perth Glory CEO David Della Rocca – Chairman Colin Sharland - Secretary Abid Imam – Media Eamon Duffy – Media Matthew Stacey - Merchandise Mel White – Community Programmes Brian Doherty – Match Day Apologies: Amanda Speedy Minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed by those present. Matters Arising There were no matters arising Perth Glory CEO Report – Jason Brewer The Committee were shown a graph that confirmed that 70% of tickets on match-day were sold on the day of the Match. This figure does not count members as their tickets are already pre purchased. For example 4700 members turned up to the Adelaide match on Monday, 5th January, in a total crowd of approx. 9800. This meant that 3570 tickets were sold on the day in contrast to 1530 tickets sold in the days leading up to the match. With 16 days out from the Melbourne Victory game the club has already pre sold 588 tickets. This is compared to Adelaide’s pre sold and the average tickets at the same stage of 250. Overall there is an increase in Matchday ticket sales of 3%. This is up from 67% last season to 70% this season. This indicates that the club is on the right path and the future is bright. Report from Matthew Stacey – Merchandise Mathew reported that for the game against Adelaide United it appears Security at Gate 3 after the game wouldn’t allow fans to exit through the main gate but would only allow them to exit through the smaller gates which caused confusion and congestion. Security advised Fans that they could exit faster through the Main Gate at Gate 3. CEO to follow this up. Matchday Entertainment Report - Follow up questions were asked what exactly the Mascot can do on Matchday. We were shown the instructions as laid down by the FFA which states that Mascots are not allowed onto the pitch during the interval and can only roam the edges between the pitch and the fences. One idea put forward for future consideration was: Kiss Cam – similar to what they do in American Baseball. The pan the crowd and if featured you have to kiss your girl. If you don’t Glory Gorilla comes down and either takes your girl away or he embarrasses you. More entertainment plans are in the process of being finalized and the club is updating our video/vocal technical issues. Complaints have been made that the Matchday announcer is talking over the club song as this will be looked into. Whilst on the club song we are looking to find our own song that we can identify with. As Victory, Adelaide and other clubs have already done. There is to be shortlist made up of songs that fans would like the club to use. Therefore, if anyone has a specific song that they consider could be in the running let your respective representative know and we shall listen to them next meeting. Songs so far that have been nominated are: 1. I Love you Baby (substitute baby for Glory) – Frankie Valli 2. Hi Ho Silver Lining – Jeff Beck 3. Day Dream Believer – The Monkees 4. Delilah – Tom Jones 5. Glory Days – Bruce Springstein 6. Just Can’t get Enough – Depech Mode. Once the list is complete fans will be asked to vote for the club song. The song with the highest number of votes gets the nod. The club is also trying to finalize a band for the Australia Day match on January 25th. This game is expected to draw an extremely large crowd so a variety of Matchday activities will be planned. As for players not kicking or throwing ball into the crowd anymore this is a safety issue as there is a potential risk that someone will get hurt going for the ball so Venues West has asked the club to cease this after match activity. Our average Matchday crowds are now the highest since the A-League started. There are no longer bulk free tickets given away as it’s seen to be unfair to those members who did the right thing and bought a membership. Fans in the Active Area are being stopped if they have General Admission Tickets and are being prevented from entering the area. The problem lies with Ushers not informing fans that they can swap their GA tickets for Active tickets by going to the ticket box and exchanging them. Fans are also finding it difficult to buy Active Tickets on line 24 hours prior to the game. The CEO will also follow this up. The Away Fans have now been moved to the North East corner of the ground (by the ambulance entry). The club was not in favour of this however, they were over-ridden by Stadium Management. The new Away bay can hold 100 away fans but can be extended to 200 for big games like Victory or Western Sydney Wanderers. This now puts the away bay within 50 metres of the Shed. Heat Policy – Several Committee Members raised the issue of the FFA heats policy. The following is an extract of an email the FFA sent the club: The FFA Heat Policy was strictly adhered to in relation to Monday’s game. The WBGT (The wet-bulb globe temperature is a composite temperature used to estimate the effect of temperature, humidity, wind speed (wind chill), and visible and infrared radiation (usually sunlight) on humans.) was less than 28 degrees in both the sun and shade at the time of kick-off (given sunset was 7.26pm) and both Club Doctors agreed it was safe to play but recommended cooling breaks in each half as a precaution (which was sensible). As usual, FFA monitored the conditions in the days leading up to kick-off and was in regular consultation with both Clubs, the PFA and Fox Sports, and in doing so took the unusual step two days prior to the game to post-pone kick-off from 5pm to 5.30pm. Whilst FFA determines scheduling matters in its ultimate discretion (in consultation with key stakeholders), when finalizing the kick-off time in the context of the FFA Heat Policy FFA relies on the expert medical advice of Club Doctors and FFA’s Head of Medical Services who have professional, legal and ethical obligations to Players and Match Officials. As both club Doctors were consulted and they both agreed that it was ok to kick off the FFA/Fox Sports had the go ahead to proceed with the match at the time of 5.30pm The FFA will again endeavour to ensure the weather conditions are built into next season’s draw. There were 12 incidents where fans had to seek First Aid with heat stroke and this is to be included in the club’s final report to the FFA. Chris Harold has not suffered any long term affects from him having to leave the field in the 25th minute. If any fans did suffer any effects from the heat on the day could you please let your respective reps know so that this to can be included in the report. Development of Sorrento - The club is finalizing its schedule in regards to this matter and there will be a more detailed report next meeting. There being no further business the meeting was declared closed at 8.15pm. The next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, 11 March at 6.30. The Secretary will send out a reminder 1 week prior.
