According to Taney, the authors of the Constitution had viewed all - TopicsExpress

According to Taney, the authors of the Constitution had viewed all blacks as beings of an inferior order, and altogether unfit to associate with the white race, either in social or political relations, and so far inferior that they had no rights which the white man was bound to respect. The above statement was written by Supreme court Justice Tanney, in his decision to rule against Dred Scott in his quest to sue for his freedom. Coincidentally Dred Scott at the time was a resident of Missouri which was a free territory that his owner brought him to. This is posted for those that dont quite understand why the incidents of the past week have a racial tone to them. These are the view points of a Supreme Court Justice from hundreds of years ago. A viewpoint that some unfortunately still feel in the year 2014. Please note that I said some and allow me to acknowledge the fact that historically, there has always been white citizens that disagree with this view point and in fact fought to change this feeling. However, this country wasnt built with the intention of ever achieving equality for all; hence the treatment of the Native Americans. Even though we have made great strides towards the theory of equality an black people have achieved tremendous feats as a people. Unfortunately The Ferguson incident and the countless others that have occurred over the many many years will continue to occur. Simply put, SOME feel the same as Justice Tanney, we have to be ready to fight (peacefully if possible) everytime something like this happens until those that feel this way are out numbered and voiceless. Black folk as a whole have to do better. It is sad that with all the peaceful protest that have been occurring in the recent days that we still had a shooting that may have taken another life in Missouri. We know how to change this, but why dont we? #THINKABOUTIT
