According to all reports after today the only aspect of government that Republicans will not have a stranglehold on is the White House. The House, Senate and the Supreme Court will all be under the control of the GOP and those that pay to put and keep them in office. And why is this? Im sorry but the logic eludes me. How is it that the noise makers on the right have so successfully hijacked our country? What exactly has our president done to make him so reviled? We have experienced 63 straight months of economic expansion. The deficit he inherited, created after 8 years of Bush, has been reduced by two thirds. Obamacare? What exactly is the problem with it? Its working, 10 million people who didnt have health insurance before do now and it is lowering costs across the board. Were out of Iraq and virtually out of Afghanistan and bin Laden, the guy Bush couldnt catch but used to justify taking us to war and economic ruin for is dead. The stock market is at record heights. The unemployment rate (the #1 issue of the 2012 campaign) has dropped from 10.2 to 5.8%. Gas prices are down but we all know theyll go up in time for Thanksgiving travel. IDK, Im just tired, fed up and resigned to the fact that our country is broken. Not the spirit or goodness of our people or the dedication of those that fight and sacrifice their lives to defend it, but those that walk the halls of power who are merely puppets to special interests and the 1%. American democracy is a fallacy, we live an an oligarchy folks, plain and simple. Not sure what that means? Here is the definition: A government in which a small group exercises control especially for corrupt and selfish purposes (Merriam-Webster) Can anyone deny this? Im tired. I have fought the good fight for decades. I have nothing left...except for the occasional Facebook rant :-)
