According to court documents, an Alabama federal judge will allow a Mirena lawsuit Plaintiff to pursue allegations that the levonorgestral released by Mirena caused her to develop idiopathic intracranial hypertension, a condition that can result in migraine-like headaches, blurred vision, double vision, temporary blindness, blind spots, or other visual deficiencies, as well as permanent vision loss. According to an Order dated March 28, 2014, Judge William M. Acker Jr. of the U.S. District Court, Northern District of Alabama, rejected Bayer Healthcare Pharmaceutical’s assertion that the Plaintiff’s claims of negligent design, strict liability, breach of express warranty and fraud were not sufficiently pleaded. However, Judge Acker did dismiss a claim of breach of implied warranty put forth in the complaint. (Houston v.
