According to new research, football players as young as 7 absorb blows to the head that are comparable to those endured by college players. 240 hits per season. Researcher put accelerometers in their helmets to measure force of every hit. The number of hits and magnitude was a lot higher than people would have estimated, biomedical engineer Stefan Duma reported. 25,000 football players aged 8-19 are treated in ERs for concussions each year. Anyone wanna talk about long-term effects of repeated blows to the young brain??? Scary!
