According to our latest opinion poll, a little under half of our visitors get there dogs food online, a quarter from pet shops and just 7% from supermarkets. Unfortunately, this is no representation of the UK as a whole where the vast majority of dog owners still buy all of their pet food from supermarkets who still sell predominantly awful foods. The problem is not one of caring (British dog owners are amongst the most loving in the world), nor of budget (as there are plenty of decent inexpensive options out there) but of ignorance. As I described in one of my first articles on the AADF website, the big pet food corporations have worked very hard to ensure that all roads of enquiry lead back to their brands and since most of their customers wont ever hear of an alternative, they can basically get away with making whatever rubbish they want. Sadly, pressuring the manufacturers and the supermarkets has never and will never work. They will only change their ways when consumers start to demand more for their pets so the next time you see your dog-owner friends, be sure to ask them what theyre feeding and get them on the AADF website to see whats really in their dogs bowl.
