According to report, the NSA can reportedly tap into user data on smartphones from leading manufacturers such as Apple, BlackBerry and Google The report by Spiegel states that they have gained access to top secret NSA documents informing them that the US intelligence agency has the capability to tap into smartphones such as Apples iPhone, BlackBerry devices and Googles Android OS devices. According to the internal documents, it is possible for the NSA to tap most sensitive data held on these smart phones, including contact lists, SMS traffic, notes and location information about where a user has been. It is unclear whether the process is carried out remotely but accoding to the documents, experts have said they have gained access to a users iPhone data via. the computer they have synced with. By doing so they gain scripts that enable access to an additional 38 iPhone features. The documents also reveal that the NSA has successfully hacked into BlackBerry devices, being able to see and read SMS traffic, as well as gaining access to the BlackBerry mail system. The initative by the NSA was allowing US authorities to mine data such as emails, search-engine history, chats and files. It was uncovered that the NSA had acessed information from leading internet companies such as Google, Apple, and Microsoft.
