According to the Scottish government web site the entire population of the country (2011) stood at 5.22 million. Of this number the web site stated “ the ratio of people aged under 16 and over pensionable age to those of working age - is projected to rise from around 60 per 100 in 2010 to 64 per 100 working age population in 2035” . By a lightning calculation (60% of 5.2 million) shows circa 1.6 million people in Scotland are of working age. However of this number 7.4 % are unemployed and circa 1.8% disabled persons are excluded from the figures which gives the total numbers of workers in Scotland as 1.45 million. Scottish Tory leader Ruth Davidson kicked Alex Salmond Scotish First Minister into overdrive outrage when the leader of the Scottish Conservatives, said” it was ‘frightening’ (that) only 283,080 households – 12 per cent of the total (in Scotland ) – pay more in taxes than they get back in public services. She added “Scottish household consumed £14,151 more in public services every year than it pays in tax, according to the Office for National Statistics.” Currently Scotland is running a deficit of Circa 11.4 billion a year and this takes into account the tax revenue from North Sea Oil (circa $35 billion) and the hand outs from Westminster to the tune of £ 2,700 per capital head more than that received by the inhabitants of England. Given the recent discovery of massive reserves of oil and gas in places as far apart as the USA, Russia and Brazil the revenue from North Sea oil /gas is about to plummet. Never the less regaurdless of thesis massive loss to the Scottish economy the Scottish First Minister yet again jumps on his soap box and tells the people of Scotland that he will provide even more freebees in the form of cutting the bedroom tax, freezing council tax, increase spending on public and welfare services, cut income tax and reduce the cost of power to domestic consumers. Added to which Salmond will set aside £ 50 billion a year to build a nest egg for the future inhabitants of his pie in the sky land. Last week but for the offer of £126 million of British tax payers cash to the operators of Grangmouth, to construct a fraking facility, it would have closed taking 10% of the Scottish economy with it. The risible Salmond offered £6 million. So given the circumstance PLEASE VOTE YES TO independence Scotland and save us south of the boarder a fortune in taxes. An added incentive the Scottish deputy First Minister Ms Stergion said in the event Scotland voted NO Westminster would cut the Scottish budget to that in line with spending in England and she is so right . So Vote YES pretty please bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-24797625
