According to this new study, bullying is directly linked to suicidal ideation and attempts in kids, and cyberbullying more than in person bullying results in ideation and attempts. Perhaps the latter is because kids are connected 24/7, whereas there is some respite when the kid leaves the geographical location of in person bullying. I also think parents have a responsibility to monitor and limit smart phone, webcam, and other cybersources of bullying/harassment. Every school should have a mandatory course on cyber safety as well, but it is up to school districts. You can lobby for this.
