According to tradition, Freight Operations Sups/Managers are cocky - TopicsExpress

According to tradition, Freight Operations Sups/Managers are cocky as hell, with few exceptions - Im learning to be. Im going to brag for once, dammit. Tonight I shut down the previous shift by swinging a trailer that had been loaded into the wrong one, then ran my own priority 3 sector while setting up the next shift and kicking the 2nd priority sectors ass. When the next guy came in, he didnt have to do a thing because I had his dock set. I had all my highway subservice pulls loaded and ready to go early on, then loaded 15 pups for 7 sets of doubles for 7 on times, and I only have one loader while the priority two guy has a whole friggin team kissing his butt. I had 50 doors set up of the next shift WHILE shutting down my sector. Then I yard checked in 15 mins and created the afterhours spreadsheet and left before everyone else. Im supposed to be the last guy out. I friggin rocked it today and the linehaul coordinator gave me high five and told me I was on fire. The next guy who is one of our top performers and with the nickname boy wonder coming in called me boss as I left - meaning Ive finally won his respect - winning anyones respect is something that must be earned in the freight business, you just dont get it overnight. It may take a year. Or a year and five friggin days. Oh wait, it was leap year. Whatever. I had an awesome day at work. But you know what? Im going to be different - on second thought, it was all those awesome guys on the dock that work for me who did the real work. So much for cocky...lol. Sure, I busted my ass, but I couldnt have done it all without the expert help of the outbound team.
