#AccraChronicles: Day Four Today, I gave myself a pat on the shoulder. I realized I was quickly learning the ways of Accra and it felt good. After some quick calculations, I concluded that commuting to work in Accra is cheaper than in Kumasi. A trotro ride from Ayeduase new site to Tech junction costs 50p, Tech to Santasi roundabout is 1 cedis 20 pesewas and Santasi roundabout to Ultimate 50 pesewas. Theres no way you can get a straight ride in Kumasi during the rush hour but its different in Accra. A ride from Botwe to work is 1 cedi 50 pesewas and same back home. That means I save 70 pesewas a day on transport. Dont bring in the argument of taxis cos I dont intend to tow that line. I met my sweet Architect Dede Terkan on my way to work at Shiashie. I really wanted to talk to her so I asked the lady sitting beside me to switch seats with her. The kwɛɛɛ alone she said even before telling me Im not serious showed me how unfriendly some people can be. In the end, I had to wait patiently for her to alight for Dede to move to her seat by which time we were almost close to her destination. I got to the office quite early today too and things moved slowly. Trust me, the guys in the events department, even though we are under pressure to ensure #MOGO2013 rocks, still have a subtle way of taking things easy to kill any spirit of anxiety in a newbie. Work was great and #MOGO2013 promises to be greater. The high point at work today was when Nana Damoah came for an interview on the Citi Breakfast Show. Gosh, I was so glad to see my friend. He won me some admiration when he said I contributed to the content in I Speak Of Ghana. Thanks Nana, you sure do know how to help someone build his capacity. Thanks for the acknowledgement. Around 10am, my head started to ache and my tummy began to churn. I could feel digestive enzymes squirty from their respective glands into my stomach. ɛkɔm yɛ ya! I reached for my flask and started sipping the hot Lipton yellow label tea and started humming the good old its the sign of the taste, the sign we all know..... That old Lipton song changed my mood. I was relaxed after some sips and started working on some creative work I only got to know i could do today. Recording voice-overs for video and mixing/producing it myself was wasnt something I had done before butbthe result was excellent. So work went ahead. I met another friend who had also encouraged me to join Citi, Samuel Apea-Danquah, today when he came around and it felt good. Kwame Gyan and EmperorTonyi Senayah also came around yesterday too. The thing is, seeing good pals at your new work place especially when one had to relocate entirely is heart warming. Those of you who know Kofi Akpabli would envy me paa. The award winning journalist/writer had a chat with me. Yes! We had a chat, I spoke with the legend and among the main subject was FUFU. Kojo, I hear you are the fufu king, welcome to Accra. I love fufu too. Infact, I have written about fufu and I would publish it for you on your birthday, he said. My joy then knew no bounds. The legend, someone I admire so much is a Fufu soldier. My Gawd! I told him about the Access Fufu Club and he accepted to be the patron. We are set for delicious intellectual meetings when we take off. He told me about two Fufu joints that would make me forget about Sister Akos. He advised me to build my capacity and embrace the goodness from Heaven that is coming my way. Kofi Akpabli will be at the launch of #ISpeakOfGhana on Friday, so make a sate ans youll see him. #MOGO2013 is also happening on Friday, 7pm at the National Theatre. Join #TeamCitiFM to celebrate the past and inspire the future. #December2Remember is also on the 24th of December. My birthday is on the 29th of December, the celebrations will begin at #D2R. Get your white t-shirt and jeans ready. I may give away some free tickets. When I went to #Speechless for lunch, I felt like crying. I made my fufu allegiance known to them the first day I went there and theyve promised to put it on their menu. I was sad because the conversation with Kofi Akpabli had increased my fufu libido and to think I wasnt gonna get any gave me nutritional blueballs. Barima nsu, so I ate the fried rice like that. Their chicken, as always, was gooooooood. Back to work, daily targets met, wet evening and it was time ro go home. However, Ameyaw Deborah and Ebenezer Anangfio came around and the latter offered to take me to Celsbridge to give me a proper Mnachester United welcome to Accra. We ate some friend rice and beef sauce (how ibwishwd it was fufu or ampesie), shared some green charlies, watched the ManU/Everton game and set off for home. Day 3 hard also ended albeit on a tipsy note. I just got home and Im reporting live to you, my family and friends. I cant wait doe the #ISpeakOfGhana launch and the afterparty at #MOGO2013. Before I sleep Ill drown the tiredness in some humor by reading the My Book of #GHcoats. Thanks for your prayers. Kuro kɛseɛ mu abrabɔ ɛnyɛ easy. Happy birthday Francis Doku. Lets party at the #MOGO2913 concert. Guys, Rise Above Hate. You can be the greatest, you can be a champion, dont wait for luck . Work hard and youll be rewarded. #VIM
