Vote-buying cases have been recorded in at least four of the country’s five constituencies. The bids have been said to range between 500 and 2,000 Kuwaiti dinars ($1,700 to $7,000), depending on the constituency and the types of candidates. An official report has yet to be published in this matter, but informed sources have confirmed many cases of vote trafficking. A few days ago in the Jabariya district, which is affiliated with the third constituency, security men raided a villa rented by one of the candidates, who is “a newly-rich millionaire." The villa was equipped with computers and a management team to receive voters and pay them for casting their votes in favor of the candidate, who is said to have been interrogated according to an order issued by the public prosecutor.
