Achieving YOUR goals. I hear a lot of people saying new year new me body under construction Im going to get fitter, etc etc. ok its a start, for many thats where it will end. Il try & help you. 1, First of all you need to ask yourself, what do you want to achieve? 2, How are you going to measure / record your progress ? 3, Are your goals achievable ? ( short term,medium, long term ) 4, Are your goals realistic ? 5, How much time have you given yourself to achieve your goals ? 6, WHY do you want to do this ? You can use all of the 6 points no matter what your physical / fitness goals are, il use the example of someone wanting to get stronger. So first of all how much stronger ? Be specific, you want to improve your 10 rep max on bench press 90kg by 10 kg. How will we measure your progress? We would record every session, reps, weights etc etc then in 6 weeks time attempt your 10 rep max. You must ask yourself is this achievable ? If you had a training partner or a personal trainer discuss with them, agree what you want to achieve. Be realistic, can you get all your training sessions in? Could your occupation hold you up? Family commitments? Can you stay focused inside & outside of the gym for 6 weeks? TIME, you must have a deadline ( stick to it ) of when you want to achieve your goal ( or it could be too easy to put off your goals for another day ) WHY do YOU want to do this? Personal achievment? To get yourself in the team? Prove somebody wrong ? Every time you train/ exercise, you remind yourself WHY YOU are doing this. All of the above is an example but it can be used in every aspect of fitness / health, over a far greater time, goals can be short term, medium, long term, (weeks,months,years ) Also tell people ( family,friends, social media ) not only ( hopefully ) they will support & encourage you,but it will put a little pressure on yourself & help you to achieve your goals. As Ive said in other posts Ive put on here, Im not making out Im Mr know it all, ( far from it ) I use my own experiences & advice Ive been offered over the years, if I can help people to start & achieve there goals, JOB DONE!
