Acid Survivors Foundation India (ASFI) purports to be the leading NGO in India for reducing, eventually eradicating, acid and related burns violence, as well as for providing vital support to survivors through a network of chapters, associates and collaborators, by sharing knowledge, expertise and best practices. Acid violence is a form of premeditated violence usually committed against women . The act rarely kills but causes severe physical , psychological and social screening often in countries where rehabilitation is extremely expensive or simply unavailable . ASFI is working to raise local capacity to treat survivors and lower the numbers of attacks through awareness raising initiatives, medical treatment ,psychological treatment and rehabilitation and enactment of laws. It also covers welfare and justice for women, as they are the usual victims of acid attacks. ASFI’s VISION : • Committed to growth and social justice, India should be free of acid & related violence , especially against women and children. • The civil society should be actively concerned about the prevention , treatment & rehabilitation of victims to improve their quality of life. & MISSION • To acid survivors of acid violence by access to medical & surgical treatment. • To facilitate their rehabilitation and counseling • To support their reintegration into society with dignity • To secure justice for them, to lobby for related social & legal remedies.
