Acquiring nice things makes me happy. Im not materialistic though—I rarely care about the thing itself. The joy comes from my gratitude. I realize that someone, passionate about their craft, created this thing and it is their contribution to the world. And since I too am blessed to be a contributor to the world, Im able to use my compensation to acquire this thing of beauty and function. Its proof that God is listening and responding, the Universe is working, laws and principles are holding up, and that people are serving their purposes. Not to mention that I live in a country conducive to these freedoms. So when Im marveling at my sons dope new sneakers, Im really looking beyond them and appreciating all the things that happened to get them on his fat little feet.
