This second half is an enigma in itself. The only way I can understand the second half of RM 10:17 is to rephrase it as, "and hearing COMES by the word of God. So how does hearing COME by the word of God? By reading it, by studying and meditating on it, by hiding it in the heart [including memorizing it], by keeping the word of God, by doing the word of God.
