Act_4:36 Now Joseph, a Levite of Cyprian birth, who was also called Barnabas by the apostles (which translated means Son of Encouragement), if it werent for barnabas, paul may have not have realized his destiny. barnabas name means son of encouragement, he encouraged others to their rightful place in the kingdom. he will later become an apostle, I wonder if he was known as the apostle of encouragement? paul was the apostle to the gentiles, peter, the apostle to the jews, john was the apostle of love, and so on. if paul needed the apostle of encouragement, perhaps we all do to? shouldnt we as brothers and sisters encourage each other? in the apostolic atmosphere of the kingdom of heaven there is encouragement! exhortation to fufill our destinies! is there a barnabas in the house? Act_13:43 Now when the meeting of the synagogue had broken up, many of the Jews and of the God-fearing proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas, who, speaking to them, were urging them to continue in the grace of God. Act_13:46 Paul and Barnabas spoke out boldly and said, It was necessary that the word of God be spoken to you first; since you repudiate it and judge yourselves unworthy of eternal life, behold, we are turning to the Gentiles. Act_13:50 But the Jews incited the devout women of prominence and the leading men of the city, and instigated a persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and drove them out of their district. Act_14:14 But when the apostles Barnabas and Paul heard of it, they tore their robes and rushed out into the crowd, crying out Act_14:20 But while the disciples stood around him, he got up and entered the city. The next day he went away with Barnabas to Derbe. Act_15:2 And when Paul and Barnabas had great dissension and debate with them, the brethren determined that Paul and Barnabas and some others of them should go up to Jerusalem to the apostles and elders concerning this issue. Act_15:12 All the people kept silent, and they were listening to Barnabas and Paul as they were relating what signs and wonders God had done through them among the Gentiles. Act_15:22 Then it seemed good to the apostles and the elders, with the whole church, to choose men from among them to send to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas--Judas called Barsabbas, and Silas, leading men among the brethren, Act_15:25 it seemed good to us, having become of one mind, to select men to send to you with our beloved Barnabas and Paul, Act_15:35 But Paul and Barnabas stayed in Antioch, teaching and preaching with many others also, the word of the Lord. Act_15:36 After some days Paul said to Barnabas, Let us return and visit the brethren in every city in which we proclaimed the word of the Lord, and see how they are. Gal_2:13 The rest of the Jews joined him in hypocrisy, with the result that even Barnabas was carried away by their hypocrisy. Col_4:10 Aristarchus, my fellow prisoner, sends you his greetings; and also Barnabass cousin Mark (about whom you received instructions; if he comes to you, welcome him);
