Action from the December 22, 2014, Barton County Commission Agenda: BUDGET AMENDMENT HEARING – A Budget Hearing was held to discuss amending the 2014 Operating Budget for the Road and Bridge, Noxious Weed and Special Bridge funds. AGENDA MEETING – AMENDMENT OF THE 2014 BARTON COUNTY OPERATING BUDGET – The Commission approved the amendment of the 2014 Operating Budget. The amendment addresses additional revenues for Road and Bridge, Noxious Weed and Special Bridge. COUNTY CLERK’S OFFICE: Cereal Malt Beverage License Renewals – Per K.S.A. 41-2702, no retailer shall sell any cereal malt beverage without having secured a license for that business. Applications were renewed for 2015. COUNTY CLERKS OFFICE: Request for Approval – Added / Abated / Escaped / Refunded Taxes for 2014 – A listing of Added / Abated / Escaped / Refunded Taxes for 2014 was approved. SOLID WASTE: Enclosure of North Shop – The Solid Waste Department accepted proposals for enclosing the North Shop. Generally, work is to include pouring a concrete floor and installing two roll up doors, two walk through doors and a partition wall. The $39,675.00 bid from Steel Builders Construction was approved, with Suchy Construction and Kansas Door acting as sub-contractors. NOXIOUS WEED: Replacement of Spray Truck – The Noxious Weed Department accepted bids for the replacement of a Spray Truck. The Commission approved the purchase of a 2015 Dodge 5500 Cab and Chassis 4X4, or like vehicle, from Marmie Motors Inc for $43,472.00. As a result of this purchase, a 1999 Ford F550 will be transferred from the Noxious Weed Department to the Solid Waste Landfill for $5,000.00. LANDFILL: Sale of Vehicle – As the Commission approved the purchase of a replacement vehicle for the Noxious Weed Department and the subsequent transfer of a 1999 Ford F550 to the Landfill, the Landfill will be allowed to sell a 1998 Chevy K2550 2WD. NOXIOUS WEED: Utility Task Vehicle – The Noxious Weed Department accepted quotes for the replacement of a Utility Task Vehicle (UTV). The Commission approved the purchase of a 2015 Kawasaki Mule from Superior Outdoor Power for $22,189.00. In addition, a 1999 UTV will be transferred to the Memorial Parks Department. NOXIOUS WEED: Replacement of Garage Doors and Openers – The Noxious Weed Department accepted quotes for the replacement of two garage doors and openers on the Main Shop. The Kansas Door quote for $7,350.00 as approved. TREASURER’S OFFICE: Ratification of Purchase – Kevin Wondra, County Treasurer, purchased a programmable table-top folding machine from OPI for $3,420.00. The machine was needed to fold approximately 35,000 tax statements. The purchase was ratified. COUNTY SERVICES: Informational Update – Mr. Boeckman provided the informational report of work completed during the last period. Announced – Barton County Office Buildings will be closed Thursday, December 25, 2014, in observance of the Christmas holiday. The Records Division of the Sheriff’s Office, the Health Department and the Landfill will all be closed on Christmas. Emergency services will be in normal operation.
