Action will be taken against the organisers – IGP Khalid The Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) will assist Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) if needed, to act against a group of anti-government protesters who are camping at Padang Merbok, here. Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Khalid Abu Bakar said yesterday that although the field was DBKL’s responsibility, the police were ready to assist in the matter. As at 3pm yesterday, there were 30 tents put up at Padang Merbok by the demonstrators although DBKL had at 10am issued a notice for them to vacate the field. “Action will still be taken against the organisers of the illegal gathering at Padang Merbok under the Peaceful Assembly Act,” he told reporters after a crime awareness campaign, here.
