Actions like this cut both ways. The surest way to get people to do something, is to tell them they cant. On principle, I agree with the ban. The Rebel flag, which is actually a battle flag and was never a national flag of the Confederacy, represents the most abhorrent schism in American history both in terms of the defense of institutional slavery, but in the deliberate dismemberment of these United States — something no foreign power had done then or since. This flag represent not the freedoms of the southern states, but the willful striping of humanity based on biblically justified prejudice and ignorance for the profit of the then upper 1% of the South. Allowing further generations to absorb and propagate a revisionist history of the Souths role in both the fundamental crushing of human rights and the subsequent treasonist secessionism that followed is a cancer waiting to once again metastasize and transform from a chronic to a permanent condition. Its one thing to celebrate the courage and sacrifice of your ancestors in battle, its quite another thing to argue their cause of denying liberty to so many was a just cause.
