Activate your networks and russell up a few thousand voters for Gisborne Gigatown?? Gisborne has made it to the final of the Gigatown competition. We have a very strong chance of winning. If we win this, we win a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to transform our town. We get to build on everything that is so great about Gisborne and make it even better. Access to ultra-fast broadband before anyone else in the Southern Hemisphere will give us a massive economic boost. We get the chance to rebrand ourselves – goodbye Poverty Bay, hello Smart City. We can reduce our reliance on exporting physical products and enhance our economy by exporting knowledge-based products and services. We can improve health services and access to education for our people. As part of the Gigatown competition, our town has been developing a strategic plan for how we would implement the prize to benefit our entire community. Our plan is awesome and when we win the prize and implement the plan our entire town will benefit. We need your help. The final hurdle between Gisborne and winning is getting votes on our plan. Our main rival in the competition is Dunedin, with a population three times ours. Our challenge is to shout out to the entirety of New Zealand seeking support for our plan. The task is simple – head to gigatown.co.nz and enrol to vote (you can do this now). On 19thNovember head back to gigatown.co.nz , view the plan and associated video, then cast your vote for Gisborne. Please appeal to everyone that you know to do the same. If you have ever wanted to change the world this is your chance. Our town is amazing but faces massive challenges with poverty and deprivation – you could help change this. Our town’s economy struggles against its isolation – you could help turn this to our advantage. We just need two minutes of your time – please vote for Gisborne’s plan at gigatown.co.nz
