Activision intelligently just has variant exclusives for Skylanders. So to use amiibo as an example, if you want a theoretical Gold Mario or Gold Peach if you will, it would have been exclusive to Target or Walmart. But you could have found a regular Mario or Peach anywhere and they have the same functionality. Disney does the same thing for Disney Infinity. Its a win-win because the casual consumer doesnt have to deal with bullshit to buy a toy and hardcore collectors will pay out and in turn earn the publisher a higher profit.
