Activists and survivors across diverse social strata joined the ‘Shame is Yours: Not Mine’ campaign to mark Human Rights Day at the American Center held in association with the Jeevika Development Society. The highlight of the program was the poignant and powerful theater performance by the survivors reinforcing the rights of the victim. Mumbai based survivor - activist Flavia Agnes and U.N. women representative Anju Dubey Pandey from Delhi joined Kolkata’s civil society leaders to make a strong statement on how as a society: we need to listen to the victims themselves and those who work with them in the field to find solutions and approaches to the prevalent culture of victim blaming. They also stressed the need to empower girls to speak up for themselves, and set the example in our communities, in our workplaces and in our homes. What pledge did you take on World Human Rights Day to make this world a better place?
