Actor J.J. Murphy, who was set to join Game of Thrones Season Five has passed away. The 86-year-old Northern Irish actor died on Friday, days into filming his role as Ser Denys Mallister, one of the oldest members of the Night’s Watch. Producers are yet to confirm whether they intend to recast his part, or order a rewrite of the scenes he had been set to film. Update: In an official statement from HBO, D.B. Weiss and David Benioff have announced, “We will not be recasting J.J. Murphy. He was a lovely man, and the best Denys Mallister we could have hoped for. And now his watch is ended.”
