Acts 3:19 Repent... then turn to God so that your sins may be wiped out; that time of refreshing may come from the Lord. Repentance does not mean just nodding in polite agreement with God and continuing the same way we are going. When we turn our thoughts toward God- when we truly agree with Him about what is right- our behavior will follow. When we sincerely turn our minds and hearts toward God our actions and character change accordingly. Repentance means to change ones mind and attitude about God which ultimately changes a persons action and decisions. Those who repent and accept Christs provision of forgiveness from their sins through His death on the cross will escape spiritual death! Many people want the benefits of being identified with Christ without turning from sin and acknowledging their disobedience. The first step to being forgiven is to confess our sin and turn from it. If we want to follow Christ we must repent and be baptized. To repent is... to turn from sin, changing the directions of our life from selfishness and rebellion against Gods laws. At the same time we must turn to Christ- depend on His forgiveness, mercy, guidance and purpose. Repentance involves confessing sin with godly sorrow and then forsaking it! Today the Lord is still calling us to repent...to turn from a sinful way of living to ways that honor and please Him. REPENTANCE MEANS HATING SIN...ENOUGH TO TURN FROM IT! ( ODB 17.2.01)
