Acts 4:18-21 So they called the apostles back in and commanded - TopicsExpress

Acts 4:18-21 So they called the apostles back in and commanded them never again to speak or teach in the name of Jesus. But Peter and John replied, “Do you think God wants us to obey you rather than him? We cannot stop telling about everything we have seen and heard.” The council then threatened them further, but they finally let them go because they didn’t know how to punish them without starting a riot. For everyone was praising God The Sanhedrin decides to threaten Peter and John about speaking or teaching in the name of Jesus. Peter and John refuse to compromise with the gospel. They say, “we cannot help speaking about what we have seen and heard.” In the face of persecution, Peter and John stand firm in their faith. Lord God, help us remember their example as we live for You in our own lives. As tests and trials come Lord, let courage, wisdom, discernment, boldness, and joy accompany our testimony! Let us live unashamed of what You have done in our lives!
