Acts of the Apostles 9:10-16 (NLT) Now there was a believer in Damascus named Ananias. The Lord spoke to him in a vision, calling, “Ananias!” “Yes, Lord!” he replied. The Lord said, “Go over to Straight Street, to the house of Judas. When you get there, ask for a man from Tarsus named Saul. He is praying to me right now. I have shown him a vision of a man named Ananias coming in and laying hands on him so he can see again.” “But Lord,” exclaimed Ananias, “I’ve heard many people talk about the terrible things this man has done to the believers in Jerusalem! And he is authorized by the leading priests to arrest everyone who calls upon your name.” But the Lord said, “Go, for Saul is my chosen instrument to take my message to the Gentiles and to kings, as well as to the people of Israel. And I will show him how much he must suffer for my name’s sake.” Good morning friends.... as I was reading this morning..... a thought occurred to me.... What would have happened had Ananias not done what the Lord told him to do? Would Saul.... who later became Paul.... Ever received his sight and preached with such boldness throughout the known world? Would we today have the letters.... The Scriptures that he wrote... In our Bibles? And then.... The Holy Spirit asked Me this question.... Who is not in the Kingdom of God because we have said no to go into all the world and preach the gospel? Who are we.....the church ..... To tell Good no? Who are we to take this message of Good News and keep it all to ourselves? When God commanded us to go into the world and make disciples... dont you think He knew we would undoubtedly meet people who have fought against Him... Not us.... And that they would be His instruments to preach the Gospel? But the church only wants a certain type of person... That dresses just right, smells just right, talks just right, and so on.... But God is not willing that any should perish... And yet we have the audacity to tell Him no! Cmon people.... This is a matter of life and death! If you had the cure for cancer or AIDS... Would you keep it to yourself? So why do we keep Jesus all to ourselves?
