Actually, theres a large amount of evidence that ability alone is not enough. Money alone is not enough, either. Sadly, intelligence doesnt really figure into the equation above about a 90 IQ. Intelligence can be useful. Ability can also be useful. However, attitude is one essential aspect and a support group of either friends or family who legitimately give you support, whether financially or emotionally. Motivation is useful. Things that can hold you back: Poverty, friends who tear you down all the time or steal from you, ethics, being handicapped, (Note: physical handicaps less so, mental handicaps moreso, Whether a lack of sanity or brain damage. Manic depressives are notoriously known for becoming rich during their manic phase, and destitute during their depressive phase), health issues, etc. Despite having bad health my whole life, brain damage, being severely poverty stricken, and a number of other concerns, the thing that held me back from making a lot of money when I was younger was choosing to take care of my mother when she was disabled by a car wreck long after my father died, and an ethical code that keeps me from doing anything I consider to be immoral, or taking advantage of people. Most people will do a lot of things that I consider unacceptably immoral. And, of course, there were my friends who cut me down constantly and stole from me. If Id had the sense of self-worth to think that I deserved more, instead of a belief that these were the people that needed my help the most, I would have done much better.
