Actually they need to explain to us that the excise duty hike is to take care of a fiscal deficit which is now getting more than monstrous in proportion; not because there is over spending by them but because there is not as expected increase in direct tax collections and hence they are resorting to milking the indirect tax opportunity which is coming by it - not because of its own doing but thanks to the interplay of international forces impacting crudes downward spiral... PS: They in the post above refers to GoI and Us refers to the people of India - all of who are in one way or the other coupled to oil prices but most of who do not contribute to direct taxes. Well done Finance Minister of India.
