Actuarial job trend in India at present Somebody rightly said If wishes were horses than beggars would fly I came across many students who get frustration for not getting a job after clearing 2 to 3 papers. Are you aware of the recent job trends in the market ?? Do u know what kind of typical skill sets the recruiters expect to get from a candidate ?? We are part of one of the oldest group assisted placements over 1000 students in India and abroad since year 2005.You must know what the person in front of you wants to see in you. You are an MBA ,an engineer from a top tier Institute or CA ,M Stat ,M Sc Math or Stat with a few papers then you are preferred by most of the companies. If you are a simple plain graduate looking for a job than you need possess solid computer skills along with the technical skills which ll add value to ur CV. SAS , R ,SQL,VBA are most sought after ....Also you should be proficient in advanced excel. So if you are the one who cleared 3 to 4 papers say...Its time for you to spend 30 percent of your time learning computer skills. Also due to the exponential growth of the predictive analytics market , the scope for actuarial aspirants increased many fold.They employers have a lot of expectations from the students pursuing Actuarial science.But most failed to come up to their expectations. Certain topics like Markov process,Time Series ,GLM,Simulation,Bayesian estimation,Regression models are much in demand.So if you learn these topics properly while learning the papers you can be hired and can expect a starting salary upto 12 lacs.You need to understand the modelling part,merely passing the examination wont help much. You can join as a statistical modeller or as a predictive analyst if you hv done CT3,CT4,CT6 properly. Some of the companies like AIG, GENPACT , CTS ,TCS ,INFOSYS , ACCENTURE , KPMG , SWISS RE etc are still hiring and looking for these skills. You can try your share after developing proper skills..!
