Acute stress shuts down the parasympathetic nervous system which - TopicsExpress

Acute stress shuts down the parasympathetic nervous system which includes the reproductive system, digestive system, blood supply to the peripheral areas and pretty much anything that isnt required for an immediate fight or flight response to a danger. Chronic long term low stress also affects these systems at a more subtle level but can be just as debilitating to your health over the long term. Find ways to relax regularly in order to balance the effects of stress and find your stress/relaxation healthy equilibrium. This is such an easy thing to push to the bottom of our priority list, until something becomes more serious. Speaking of which, I must make that Shiatsu or massage appointment for myself next week.
