~ Ad-deen un Naseeha - Our Deen (way of life) is advising. A Golden Opportunity to Have Our Du’aas Answered!! This coming Friday (9 Dhil Hijjah / 3rd Oct) represents one of THE most amazing opportunities a believer could ask for. Not only are we in the best 10 days of the year, Friday will represent the best of these 10 days, it will also be the best day of the week; within it it will also contain the best hour for making dua, and to top it all off, many will also be fasting! As for the day of Arafaah: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “There is no day on which Allaah frees more people from the Fire than the Day of ‘Arafaah. He comes close and expresses His pride to the angels, saying, ‘What do these people want?’” As for fasting on the day of Arafaah for those not performing Hajj: The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) was asked about fasting on the Day of ‘Arafaah. He said, “It expiates for the sins of the previous year and of the coming year.” Narrated by Muslim. As for the du’aa of the fasting person: Our Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “There are three prayers that are not rejected: the prayer of a father for his child, the prayer of the fasting person and the prayer of the traveller.” As for Du’aa in sa’at al-Istijabah on Friday: Jâbir (may Allah be pleased with him) relates that the Prophet Sall Allahu alayhi wa sallam said: “Friday is comprised of twelve hours. There is one in which a Muslim who asks Allah for something will have it granted to him. Seek it in the last hour after `Asr.” My dear Muslims, Allah alone knows whether we will ever get this opportunity again or not. Prepare for it from now. Make a list of du’aas you want to make and spend the final hour before Maghrib this coming Friday sincerely pleading to Allah. This IS one of THE best opportunities we may get for a while. The prophet sallallahu alyhi wa sallam used to pronounce takbir immediately after finishing obligatory prayers, starting from the fajr prayer on the day of arafah, until the asr prayer on the last days of the tashriq days (13th dhul hijjah) {Ad daraqutni 1719, 2/37}. This would (for us this year) correspond to saying it aloud from after Fajr on Friday, until after Asr the following Tuesday InshaAllah. When he sallallahu alyhi wa sallam finished the fajr salah on the day of arafah, he would turn and face the companions and say stay in your places. Then he would say : allahu akber, allahu akber, laa ilaha illallah, allahu akber, allahu akber, wa lillahil hamd {Ad daraqutni 1721 2/38}. The Prophet ﷺ said there is no day in which Allah saves more people from the fire than the Day of `Arafah. It has also been narrated that anyone who has an atom’s weight of faith in their heart will be forgiven by Allah on this day, whether or not they actually stand at `Arafah. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ taught those not on Ḥajjto fast on this day with the promise that this would wipe away the wrongdoings of the previous year and the wrongdoings of the year to come. What is meant by the wrongdoings of the coming year being wiped out? The scholars mention that it is either protection from falling into them in the coming year or that if we fall into them, we will be forgiven. The wrongdoings mentioned are “minor” sins between a person and Allah, not cases where one person has wronged another. This is an immense gift from Allah to the Ummah of His Beloved ﷺ. We should also turn to Allah to ask for forgiveness and for our needs to be answered, especially in the afternoon of this day. In doing so we imitate the people standing at `Arafah, to whom forgiveness is guaranteed, and we ask Allah to give to us what He is giving to them. As the Prophet ﷺ said: “The one who imitates a people is one of them.” Just remember when Allah says to us I am to my believer what he expects from Me. Expect the best Firdous al Alaa and repent for your worse. Please pray for me and my family and our projects.
