Adam Lane challenged me to name my 10 most influential games to me: I kinda ruled out any game that I didnt own the first run of (sorry Chrono Trigger and every N64 game), and any game I havent beaten multiple times (sorry Wind Waker and Fallout 3) 1. Civilization 2- Good lord. I probably spent an entire summer in high school playing this game. Special nod to Alpha Centauri and Civ 4. Music was OP. Nothing matches the scope and scale for turn based strategy. 2. Starcraft- The game that almost flunked my senior year. It got me in its clutches again freshman year of college with those money maps. Best RTS ever. 3. Street Fighter 2- The grandaddy. My brother took me to the arcades to play when I could barely reach the stick. Mash blanka electricity all day, son. I may play fighters a bit too much b/c of this one. Special nod to Street Fighter Alpha 2 on the PS1. 4. Gunstar Heroes. (GEN) OMG this game. Still amazing. At the time... it was life changing. 5. Shingen the Ruler- Suprisingly, the NES game Ive spent the most time on. My brother and I bonded over it, learned about Japanese history, and played Shogi all when I was like 9-10. 6. Super Metroid - Dat atmosphere. Game still gives the feels. 7. Final Fantasy Tactics - Best S.RPG ever. I would love to do a remix version, cuz WotL wasnt it. 8. Resident Evil 3- Obviously one of the worst in the series, but Ive played through it like 50 times. I only think Ive finished RE2 once, oddly, and it wasnt until much later. It was the action one before RE4. RE4 is probably my favorite game ever, though. 9. Final Fantasy IV - The classic. It can share the spot w/ 6. 10. Bionic Commando- (NES), That non jumping platformer, yo. Honorable Mentions: Dragon Force (Saturn) Diablo 2 (PC) Metal Gear Solid (PS1) Sonic the Hedgehog (GEN) I challenge Eric Stormy, Shakir Turton, Harris Middleton, and Gethin Kapoor
