Im a living witness to most, if not all of the things my brother Abdullahi Yusuf writes about Isa Gusau. I dont normally join issues with my brothers here though, but when it is time to say the facts as it were, then it must be said for the fear of Allahu Subhanahu Wataala. Alh. Isa Ahamed Gusau is a role model in the journalism profession! Abdullahi Yusufs reply on the matter: Which Isa Gusau? The one everyone knows or another one from the moon? I have read the nonsense someone obviously from a political point of view, wrote about Isa Gusau, the indefatigable spokesman of our amiable Governor Kashim Shettima. My conclusion is that the writer needs to do his homework very well to know the antecedents of the Isa Gusau he was trying to attack but which was unsuccessful. Isa Gusau has carved a niche for himself over the years since his days as a reporter with Daily Trust in Maiduguri. He was known even by his colleagues, journalists, as one who was very upright and principled. There was a story I heard in 2009 from a journalist friend of mine that one Governor offered Isa Gusau a whopping sum of ten million naira in order to buy him so that the Governor would continue his nefarious activities unchallenged. Gusau rejected the money and so many other offers extended to him and his firmness made him to win the First ever Daily Trust chairmans award of Integrity for journalists working under Daily Trust. Gusau also won many other awards for Excellence in Daily Trust both as a reporter and as a management staff. Gusau didnt have to rely on brown envelopes as a senior editor in Abuja told me that Isa Gusau was doing research work for over ten reputable international organizations some associated with the United Nations that Gusaus extacodes in dollars and pounds when he regularly sent to London and the USA and other countries as a research fellow, event rappotuer and speech writer was more than enough for him and this is why as a journalist, Gusau employed two indigenes of Borno State as a special assistant and as a driver paying them salaries and later got them admission into secondary school and higher institution paying their schools fees. Someone in Bulunkutu even told me that Gusau bought a house and a car for his driver back then in 2006 because the driver was handling most of his errands travelling from Abuja to Lagos, Kaduna, Enugu and many places he had works for UN. The same person said Isa Gusau built over five mosques in Bulunkutu and bulunkutu tsallake when he was living in Bulunkutu and that one of the mosques is attached to Alhaji Awwali Kansillas house. He also told me that Gusau renovated over 20 mosques and facilitated quranic teachings for youths. He also said Gusau united over 200 youths through a football club he established and named Masel in Bulunkutu and at that time the team was one of the best with over five unique jersies fully kitted with boots and stockings as well as training kits and dozens of balls. The same person told me that Gusau gave start up capital to over 100 youths and women in Bulunkutu to start up businesses and from 2006 till date, Isa Gusau sends about 100 bags of rice every sallah to share to poor people especially widows and orphans and he has not stopped for about 9 years now and that can be verified from houses near Awwali Kansilas house at layin Shukura. Any body can go and find out all I said from residents of Bulunkutu layin Dibal, Layin Shukura near Alhaji Awwali kansillas house where Gusau lived, they should go and ask about Isa Gusaus philanthropy from 2006 when he was a journalist and getting money from his trips abroad and working for Intl organizations as a leading consultant and by that time Isa Gusau didnt know Kashim Shettima and Kashim Shettima was not yet in Borno State Government. So the useless story by that idiot that Isa Gusau requested money from journalists in Borno State is just ridiculous. Ironically, if at all money was given to journalists as claimed by the idiot, it should be Gusau that must have extended the money to them as a confidant of the Governor on issues of journalists. What stopped him from taking the money and giving the journalists whatever he wanted rather than threatening and demanding from them as said by that idiot. I challenge that idiot to go to the press department at the Government House where Gusau heads and see how Gusau has transformed the press department to a place like Europe. I was told he achieved that judiciously using impress allocated to him whereas he could have used the impress for personal use. The idiot should ask all the staff under Gusau about how Gusau has been of tremendous support for them. As a Special Adviser and politician he has bought cars for over ten persons including the messenger and driver in his office at the Government House who never dream of having cars in their lives. This can be verified from anyone in the government house. As a professional, all the journalists in Borno respect him, not a single one can accuse him. If there is anyone, let him or her. come out openly. Back then as a journalist, Isa Gusau had a unique identity that made the NUJ in Borno State to appoint him Secretary of a Task Force on ethics for journalists in Borno State and he discharged that assignment very well. Even politicians including those in the PDP have so much respect for Gusau. SAS himself once said in his parlour in Maiduguri that he doesnt like Gusau but that Isa Gusau has integrity, so who is that idiot to say otherwise. There is one journalist from Hawul that has lost his identity as a journalist as he work for SAS openly his name start with letter J he may be part of the rubbish. I have spoken to Gusau about the write up, he was laughing and even said we shouldnt reply but I fell duty bound to reply. I cant allow a young man with the mentality of General Muhammadu Buhari to be accused wrongly. I forgot to add that Isa Gusau is one of the journalists that received accelerated promotions due to his hard work and extra ordinary competence. A colleague of Gusau told me that in one particular year alone Gusau was promoted to assistant editor and deputy editor within intervals of five months. This is the Gusau we all know. As for the other claim that Gusau told one other ghost that money was given to one PDP chieftain that one also is childish. I say it that the writer doesnt know the Gusau he is talking about. Gusau is too intelligent to discuss that rubbish. My advise to the idiot writing that rubbish to know that Zakaran da Allah Ya nufe shi da cara ba abun da za a iya yi da shi and also Hassada ga mai rabo taki ne. As can be seen in the attached pictures, the first picture shows Gusau when he was in secondary school, the second and the third shows when he attended programmes in the United State. How then on earth will these mischief makers claim that he is Hungry? My respond: Abdullahi Yusuf had done enough so far. The need for me to do more or say more will rather extremely expose Isa Umar Gusaus good virtues and generosity to the eyes of men which is not acceptable in Islam (Riyah). If Abdullahi knows the much I knew about Mallam Isa Gusau I believe he will write much more copiously than that. Ride on Isa Gusau you are on top. Focus on your job, sky is your limit.
