Addiction is a disease. Anyone who says otherwise has either - TopicsExpress

Addiction is a disease. Anyone who says otherwise has either never struggled with addiction or has never watched a loved one struggle. Story.... Tonight I took my walk. Im up to four miles! As I walk I always look on the ground to see what I might find. What I saw during this walk would be considered triggers for some. First I saw a used needle.... then later I saw a piece of chore boy just laying on the sidewalk. Wow! For those of you who dont know chore boy is used as a filter in a stem to smoke crack. I didnt really think much of the needle. I never shot up. The chore brought back memories but it wasnt too bad. But then as I walked into the parking lot where I live I saw a small inch long flower. Again most of you probably have no idea what that means. But the flower comes inside a glass stem. You buy it and dispose of the flower and there you have your smoking device. Now Im slightly disturbed. A few years ago that would have been a major trigger for me. Trigger means something that would make me want to use. Today those things are NOT a trigger at all..... but I would like to know what the message is for me in seeing those things back to back during my walk for exercise and weight loss? I dont know... but Im grateful that they ARENT triggers anymore. Im grateful for my clean time. For my awesome support group of friends.... and most importantly for Jesus who keeps me strong. Anyone who is having issues with addiction or knows someone who is struggling I understand the struggle. And Im here willing to help. Anytime. Love yall ~peace and love~
