Addiction to power-over or power-abuse occurs when the brainstem and limbic system (old mammalian and reptilian circuits) hijack the higher execuitive circuits. This misplaced use of drive (agency and acquisition) does not however represent an increase in sovereignty and self-reliance in the perp because the dopamine-endorphin rewards are achieved in dependance on a victim taking the fall. Plus the aggressor will always fear on some level that they will be challenged and punished for their assault against anothers sovereignty. This fear of retaliation or divine justice keeps the perp trance-fixed in the more primitive brain circuits, which limit their creativity and efficacy. Thus having stepped off hte evolutionary tree they are doomed to failure under their own hand, even as they feel they are fighting every foe and winning every battle. Aggressors against the sovereignty of others are spiritually castrating themselves and Hindbrain means of achieving power are a self-defeating delusion--a mental illness if ever there was one. One might call this disease Dominators Mania, traditionally however it is known as psychosis or psychopathy...an affliction that a vast number of Homo sapiens has fallen to, and indeed which is encouraged by the cultural paradigm of power-over.
