Addictions are often caused not because of the biochemical reasons, but because our parents did not teach us about the importance of social adjustment in relationship to the altered states. Thus the altered states are often used as a protective barrier. A protective barrier without good social adjustment creates isolation and deepenth the addictions. We thus often get stuck in the grip of malsdjusted social rules that manifests itself in infintile behaviors. Thus the best way to cure oneself of addiction is to change your social circle. The reason why it is often hard is beacause our parents did not teach us how to communicate on multiple levels. Yoga is also a communication and a survival strategy.
