Additional Civic Calendar Item Just got this email from the Patchogue Arts Council. It is a follow up to a video clip that we presented where Trustee Devlin discussed an upcoming arts festival and this email gives everyone a much better picture of what is in store. Looks like a major event worth seeing: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ What: Patchogue Arts Council (M)usic (A)rts (C)inema Festival 2014 PAC MAC When: October 17 - 26 Where: Town of Patchogue Hotbed for the arts in full bloom - Patchogue Arts Council is at it again! The Patchogue Arts Council is excited to announce its next creative place-making initiative... Destination Downtown - PAC MAC Festival 2014 The festival will be a downtown-centric, multi-day, multi-venue festival encompassing (M)usic, (A)rts, and (C)inema from October 17-26, 2014. Through PAC MAC the Patchogue Arts Council unites various local movements all in one two-week long festival that will expose Patchogue to a broader audience to Patchogue! What will PAC MAC include? Building on PACs 2013 South by South Shore Festival, there will be original music performances at various venues throughout the festival week including a variety of local restaurants throughout Patchogue, including 89 North Music Venue, Village Green at New Village, and Live in the Lobbys Season 10 kickoff October 23 at the Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts. ARTS Commissioned sculptures and installations will be located in multiple public spaces such as Capital One Plaza, New Village Green, West Avenue Center Median The Garden Club Community Garden, various walkways that lead to Main Street, and on the grounds of Briarcliffe College. The Best of Suffolk County Arts Councils all under one roof at the PAC Gallery (Terry St.), with annex exhibit at Gallery 40 South Additional exhibitions will be on display at the Lobby Gallery at the Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts, PAC Member Gallery at Roast Coffee and Tea, and Shands Loft Gallery @ BHB. The Arts Live Here: There will be events and open studios at Artspace. Building on the past success of the PAC Walking Arts Tours, there will be visual art exhibits in the (very few!) remaining vacant retail locations. MUSIC Literary & Performance Arts: There will be a presentation by the New Musicals Project in the Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts Lobby of an original family musical entitled BOO! Spoken word and poetry readings will be held at various venues. There will be readings from PACs partnership with Herstory Writers Workshop CINEMA Screenings of alternative cinema will be selected by the proprietors of the Plaza Cinema & Media Arts Center and shown multiple times throughout the festival at Shands Loft @ BHB. The Patchogue Arts Council will be collaborating with the largest network of arts and cultural organizations throughout Suffolk County to present a Festival of the Arts for all ages. The PAC MAC Festival 2014 epitomizes the mission of the Patchogue Arts Council - Encouraging, Promoting and Supporting the Arts - Since 2008 and will further enhance Patchogues reputation as a hotbed for the arts.
