ADVERTISEMENT HAGERSTOWN, IND. — There will be some new faces among the employers at the fourth and final employment and scholarship fair organized by the Wayne County Task Force on Jobs. “We’ve had additional companies requesting participation,” said task force leader and Wayne County Commissioner Mary Anne Butters, “employers that have not been at previous fairs.” Butters said she expects more than 25 employers representing more than 400 jobs at the fair. The Hagerstown fair is scheduled this week to take advantage of the upcoming Jubilee Days on Friday and Saturday. Many Hagerstown High School alumni return for the festival every year. One of the aims of the task force is to reverse the so-called “brain drain” of talented people leaving the county. “We’re hoping that Hagerstown alumni who have left to seek their careers elsewhere will realize their careers can be built right here at home,” Butters said. “We’re hoping to acquaint them with the fact that Wayne County is hiring.” The Hagerstown Town Council is co-sponsor of the fair. Council president Rick Cole is on the task force and captain for the Hagerstown event. Business owners Mike and Penny Wickes have offered use of The Meeting Place at no charge. “It’s that kind of cooperation between the private and public sectors to bring employers and employees together that has given the job fairs success,” said Butters.
