Additionally, VA would be required to submit a report to Congress - TopicsExpress

Additionally, VA would be required to submit a report to Congress no later than 630 days from the date of enactment of the Act on the treatment and services available for male veterans who experience MST compared to such treatment and services available to female veterans. It would take effect on the date that is 270 days after the date of enactment of the Act. H. Rept. 113-564 at page 72 (see bottom of the page for a link). Lets do some math. 630 days + 270 days = 900 days. 900 days / 365 days in a year = 2.46 years! So, let me make sure I have this straight. Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT), Rep.Jeff Miller (R-FL), the Senate Veterans Affairs Committee, and the House Committee on Veterans Affairs expect #MaleMST survivors to wait almost two and a half years for this report to be produced by the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) - U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs detailing their lack of treatment and services available to male #MST survivors assuming there are no delays? Mind you, this is just the bare bones wait for the report. This is not the wait to ensure that there is parity in resources. That will presumably have to be handled by future legislation. I wonder why people dont think that #MaleSurvivorsofMST have endured long enough receiving substandard care at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs? I wonder if these committees are also aware that the recent #VAscandal has proven that data from the VA is not to be trusted? If so, then why are they asking the VA to produce this report? Why not ask the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) to investigate the issue? https://beta.congress.gov/113/crpt/hrpt564/CRPT-113hrpt564.pdf
