Address injustice in PDP, not MEND, group tells Jonathan THE Niger Delta Youth Parliament on Sunday called on President Goodluck Jonathan to concern himself about the level of injustice in the Peoples Democratic Party rather than worry about the endorsement of the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari, by the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta. The National Coordinator of NDYP, Mr. Imoh Okoko, described the continued imposition of candidate on the people by the PDP as unacceptable and detrimental to the fortunes of the party in the forthcoming general election. Okoko, who explained that MEND the right to endorse any candidate ahead of the presidential poll, maintained that the militant group was not speaking for Niger Delta youths. He observed that some members of the PDP,who had contributed to the development of the party, were sidelined while those who were strangers to the PDP had been candidates to contest for elective positions. “MEND has the right to adopt anybody as President. But MEND was not speaking the mind of the youths of Niger Delta when it declared its support for Muhammadu Buhari. The adoption of Buhari for president by MEND should not be a problem to President Jonathan. “The problem President Jonathan has and should address is the injustice in the PDP. How can the party and Jonathan allow a person that has never supported the party for one day be given the party’s ticket to contest election,” Okoko queried. The youth leader condemned the use and dump syndrome in the PDP and charged the party to disregard the declaration by sycophants that the party must win the 2015 election. Okoko specifically recalled that the Niger Delta youths contributed to the election of President Jonathan in 2011, adding that they (youths) have not benefited from the current administration. He said, “The PDP must stop sidelining its members that have contributed a lot to its growth. The President and the party should stop imposing people who have never supported the PDP for one day as candidate. It can affect the party in the election. “The unending use and dump style of the PDP is killing the party and not MEND. Let us forget about the sycophants who are saying the party must win. It does not work that way. The youths of Niger Delta who helped in mobilising for President Jonathan to win in 2011 have been forgotten.”
