Admin #1, jumping up on the soap box...feel free to knock me off...makes no difference to me...I will get up, brush off my pants and continue on. I love that people come here to vacation, as my better half and the family are the reason we live here today. My late Mother in Law fell in love with the Outer Banks over 40 years ago and brought her children here every year when they were young, as those children got older they would come other times without Mom & Dad. She continued to come here with or without family until the year she passed. I have lived here for more than a 1/4 of a century, longer than I did in my hometown. I worked for many years in the restaurant industry and came home with my pockets crammed full of money, thanks to the people who visit and spend their hard earned money. Our child was born here....and is the quintessential beach bum. We taught our child to respect not just the beach but others as well. It would have been easier to say on our Hole in the Sand picture they shouldnt have left it that way...but yet it always comes back to the local vs visitor (tourist) in the comments. It is all about respect, give respect you earn respect. We all love this small strip of sand...some call it home, some want to call it home and many call it their vacation destination. Bottom line...if you live here, were born here or lived here for a long time or you come here for vacation we should all get along (yes, I know that is a stretch...but one can hope). I have spent a lot of my own time on this page, I dont get paid for it but do it because of my love for our area. What started out as a page to educate on the dos and donts of beach driving and it morphed into a information page for Tropical Storms, Hurricanes, NorEasters, Snow, weather related events and other random information. The Admins of this page love doing what we do and will continue for as long as our old feeble fingers will allow us to type and use a mouse, though I cant wait for laptops to be voice activated..then I could just ramble on for hours, lol! Please have patience, it is a virtue, have fun, chill out!. Pay it forward, help others and eat, drink & be merry!!! And dont forget, toes in the sand and a dip in the ocean have been know to solve a lot of problems.
