Admin-delete if inappropriate. This is my public attempt to get something moving for business in downtown Clinton. To Whom it Concerns (city council, Mayor, zoning, ect) merchants and small business owners downtown DESPERATELY need some sort of large signage posted directly on Hwy 65 in multiple locations. I would suggest beginning with the obvious, entering Clinton from Hwy 65 north and south and in front of each entrance from Hwy 65 to Hwy 65B. Even if its something simple such as Shop historic downtown Clinton or Hwy 65B Shopping and Dining....any local government help would be GREATLY appreciated by the little guys. I was told that the large area by Backyard Antiques off Hwy65 which only hosts 3 small billboards was full because each sign had to be x feet apart and separate. Really??? What kind of ordinance is that? And only one of those three signs I have seen houses the business it advertises for downtown. Is there not government grant money or any other financial aid available for this? If downtown Clinton is to be revitalized and will ever thrive, then something must be done to ensure its success! I do not have the resources to oversee such a project but maybe this post will reach the right people who have the ability to undertake such a project and see this through. Its a shame to have such a cute area as what downtown Clinton is continue to go to pot and stay stagnate. Shop local first is what a lot of small business owners try to push but before they can even do that they have to have a way to let the public know both locally and those who are just passing through that they exist! Radio, newspaper, and Facebook advertising only goes so far and is quite expensive to do especially when the first basic form of advertising, using signs and visual aid, is not available to utilize. Please pass this on and lets support our local small business owners!
