Admin do remove this post if it is not appropriate. I have been seeing many posts lately everywhere that states dog/cat seeking new home, adoption fee or for adoption with fee. I think adoption has been rather misused whether deliberately or unknowingly. Adoption usually implies either free or with a small fee as 1) a donation to a charity or 2) to cover the vet bills/sterilization or 3) to prevent reselling (up to $300 for a pedigree dog/cat below 5 years) - yet I have seen upwards of $1,000 and higher. I think if fees are above $300 - it should be stated under selling. Adoption seems to play on peoples heart strings - like poor baby, your owner dont want you anymore I also feel any pets who are either 5 years and above or have an existing health condition or behavioural problem should not come with an adoption fee. It goes without saying that there should always be strict screening of any potential adopters. Theres plenty of asses out there who will adopt free and resell, as well as adopt the animal and then abandon it out in the streets when the mood passes. Lastly, if someone post an adoption advert, please read the post thoroughly, think it through carefully and then PM or contact the person via the number given. Please do not just write pm me pls - and when u write in, do state all the details requested by the person rehoming the pet. Have a happy weekend :) Do feel free to share your opinions!
