Administrative Assistant #Kingston Description: • The Administrative Assistant will provide office and administrative support to the Executive Director - UCC Foundation • Conduct research and prepare grants on local, overseas levels as well as to private and corporate foundations. • Contact funders in person, over the phone or by mail. • Research funding prospects and develop comprehensive prospect lists to support projects. • Participate in the development of fundraising campaigns, including capital, individual giving and membership campaigns. • The Administrative Assistant must be proficient in standard office techniques & equipment, including letter and report writing, research and report preparation and basic statistics, effective interpersonal relations, perform difficult and complex technical and secretarial work with independence and effectiveness, coordinate administrative tasks and assume responsibility for unique and complex projects, compose difficult correspondence independently, analyze difficult and/or sensitive situations and adopt an effective course of action, principles and practices relating to budget programs and general systems management, active listening – giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, law & government regulations about charitable gifts, establish and maintain interpersonal relationships to create a cooperative and constructive working relationship. The successful candidate must be comfortable interacting with diverse audiences including students, parents, donors, potential donors, program staff, management-level staff, private citizens, and community groups. Key attributes include strong oral and written communication skills, strong leadership skills, a high level of diplomacy, and strong organization and time management skills, including the ability to adhere to time-sensitive deadlines. Perform other duties as assigned. Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Communications, Public Administration or any related field. Experience: Minimum of three to five years’ experience in non-profit management or fundraising preferred. Two years proven grant writing experience preferred. Experience with federal grants and Grants.gov and other federal online application processes preferred. Experience with corporate solicitation, capital campaigns, marketing, and individual giving programs preferred. Program development and evaluation experience preferred.
