Administrative Officer (Specialist Positions, including Law) 2013 For the first time in four years, the Public Appointments Service (PAS) recently advertised opportunities for normal graduate entry to the Civil Service, at the Administrative Officer (AO) grade (starting salary: €29,922). PAS is recruiting people who possess particular qualifications, skills and competencies in the following specialist areas; Law Economics Finance/Banking Tax Policy Human Resources Opportunities for an AO (Law) may arise across several Departments and Offices in the Civil Service and they may be required to conduct research and provide input and support on legal matters relevant to the work of the Department or Office to which they are appointed. This may encompass a range of areas of law including constitutional, European, administrative, contract, employment, commercial and human rights law. In addition to the minimum requirements (knowledge of relevant Irish and EU law and a primary honours degree in Law or qualification as a barrister or solicitor) applicants should ideally also possess the following: * Experience of working as a legal advisor or working in a specialist legal area * Knowledge of constitutional, European, administrative, contract, employment, commercial and human rights law or other legal specialities. AO is the main graduate recruitment grade for the Civil Service. Successful candidates may progress to middle management and as an AO, will have crucial roles in policy and strategy formulation across the spectrum of economic, financial, international, environmental and social issues.
